In the upstairs Poppy Room there is a comfortable area with seating for stories and floor play, a home corner and an area for sitting at a table for craft work, painting, puzzles and table toys.
-
In the Poppy room, we have three meals and two snacks throughout the day:
Breakfast (8:45am) - Cereal or porridge
Morning snack (10:30/11am) - Fruit or veg
Lunch (12pm) - A hot meal.
Afternoon Snack (3pm) - Biscuit and milk (oat/soya milk is provided where applicable.)
Tea (4:30/5pm) - Sandwiches, fruit and veg
Children sit at the table together, and enjoy socializing as they build positive meal time routines. We also encourage children in the Poppy room to use a jug to pour their own milk and water to build on their own independent skills and confidence.
All full time staff are fully trained in food handling, and this is checked regularly to ensure that all staff have up to date training.

In all rooms we aim to help the children work on the independent skills, that will carry them on through to the next stage of their journey and development.
In the Poppy Room, we are working towards these independent skills:
I can sit on the potty or toilet
I can help put my bedding away after nap time
I can eat with a fork at meal times
I can wash my hands with help
I can identify when I need a tissue for my nose
I can put my slippers on without help
I can wipe my face in front of a mirror
I can drink from a cup with no lid
I can put my arms in my coat with an adults help
-
In the poppy room, some of our main focuses are on potty-training, socialising, vocabulary extension and becoming independent.
